Upon entering Calauit, you are welcomed by a tour guide. You can just go there without an appointment, as long as no other group is there.
The problem is if another group is renting out the truck or the jeep, then you need to walk around with the guide. And that could be tiring.
Well, in our case, we got lucky. The island was all ripe for the taking.
Oh, if you're wondering about costs, this is the breakdown:
Entrance fee = Php 250 per person
Rental of jeep / truck = Php 1250
Sir Froi gave us a grand welcome. Turns out his father and my grandfather are good friends.
The tour guide gave us the whole works. Thanks, kuya.
I don't know how to describe the place. it's just too beautiful for words. I'll let the pictures take you there!
We took the jeep and toured the place for three hours! Isn't that amazing?
Feed the giraffes. Take pictures. Stroll around. It's like a slice of Africa in a forbidden place.
To be continued.
TOGETHER AGAIN!

FACT OR FICTION: IS IT REALLY THAT FAR?
To tell you the truth, it is far. It's right at the opposite of everything civilized in Busuanga Island.
If you take it by water, it would take you around four hours by boat. The boat would go around the whole island to reach this small island of Calauit. Also, the boat operator would charge you around Php 9000. If you prefer this route you better leave your inn or resort by around 4am. I kid you not.
But we found a better way.
Again, we advertise the owner of the van, Tawini, who picked us up by around 530am. Really early. But, we only reached the other side of Busuanga in just TWO AND A HALF HOURS! This is the truth. There's basically no traffic in Busuanga, but getting there early ensures you that you get too much sunburn.
Also, Tawini charged us Php 5000 for the whole van, back and forth from Busuanga. So, imagine if you guys are around ten, then you would have saved a lot of extra dough. There are cute t-shirts on the island, so you get some!
Upon arriving at the tip of Busuanga in two and a half hours, a five minute boat ride will get you to the island of Calauit. The boat operator would charge you php 400 with a return trip.
Then the magic begins.

HOW DO YOU GET THERE?
Well, it's pretty far. Ha ha ha. No, really. First you have to get to the Busuanga Airport in Palawan.
The plane trip is only around 55 minutes, so you really don't have that much time to sleep. But, arriving via air is incredibly amazing! You can see the Calamianes group of islands overhead, looking like giant emerald stones!
From the airport, rent a van. They don't charge per van; they charge only Php 150 per head. Besides, most of them are pretty polite. To look for a better van rental, just ask for this person: Tawini (Da Pooh). That's his real name. He's very charming, but sometimes a bit loud. But he's cool and funny.
And then you arrive in the principal town of Coron.
